Diary of a Dead Wizard - Chapter 10
Chapter 10: First Night as an Apprentice
Thor looked at the maid in disbelief.
He was only twelve years old!
Thor pulled the heavy cart into the room and slammed the door in front of the maid.
The maid straightened up and pouted unhappily.
At this time, the maid who was responsible for delivering books to 603 came over with an empty cart.
She looked at the young maid standing outside the door with empty hands and was a little surprised, “He didn’t let you in?”
“It’s okay.” The maid hooked her collar with her index finger, and the collar bounced back on her flesh, trembling slightly, “He will need it.”
Thor didn’t know that the people outside the door had already regarded him as prey, and he was happily picking up each book and flipping through it.
Each of these books is very thick.
Some introduce animals, plants, minerals, etc. that have magical powers in this world.
Some tell the characteristics and legends of some common ghosts.
Some are like foreign language textbooks, but they are as complicated and difficult to understand as English-Chinese dictionaries.
Others are pictures, but the pictures in them are weird and terrifying, and they will make people dizzy if they look at them for a long time.
After flipping through each book, Thor checked the things covered by black velvet.
There was a crystal ball he had seen before, but it was not pure black, but transparent.
There was a set of test tube beakers made of transparent crystal or glass, and a small crucible.
There was also a large wooden box, which was divided into more than a dozen compartments, with different items placed inside, including several sets of clothes and a first-level apprentice badge.
These things were introduced in the apprentice manual. Thor took the manual and compared them one by one, and finally recognized all the things.
Thor pinned the apprentice badge on his coat and stroked the slightly rough texture on it with his fingers.
Thinking about the first public class tomorrow, Thor took out a book “Wizard Language: Introduction to Noah Language”, sat back at the long table, and began to preview.
After all, Thor had passed the college entrance examination in his previous life, so he was still good at rote memorization and the tactics of solving a sea of questions.
There were no windows in the first-level apprentice’s room, so he couldn’t see the scenery outside. He could only tell what time it was based on the blue hourglass above his head.
Blue sand fell one by one, accompanied by the sound of paper turning and pen writing, and the whole world became quiet.
After eating the lunch and dinner brought by the maid, when Sol looked up to check the time, he found that it was already 12 o’clock in the middle of the night.
Classes will start tomorrow, so he can’t stay up too late and waste his energy.
Sol stretched his body, and his muscles began to groan with soreness, but his spirit was fine and he didn’t feel drowsy and tired.
After the apprentice’s mental test, he found that his energy was significantly improved, as if some valve in his body was opened.
When he was still a servant, he had to work until 12 o’clock, and he would be kicked awake at 4 o’clock, and then get up to work.
At that time, he always felt that he didn’t get enough sleep.
Unexpectedly, as an apprentice, he had time to sleep, but he didn’t feel so sleepy.
“Is it my illusion? It seems that my mental and mental power is much stronger than before.”
Sol was not sure about his condition, and decided to ask the instructor for advice when he met him tomorrow.
He simply scrubbed it, then walked to the wall and turned the candlelight to the dimmest.
Whether in the room or the corridor, the brightness of the candlelight can be dimmed to a low level, but it must never be extinguished.
This is common sense that even servants know.
The kind that can save lives.
Lying on the bed, Thor was a little excited again.
This bed was about one and a half meters wide, much more spacious and comfortable than the bunk bed he used to sleep on.
Thor spread out his arms and legs and tried to occupy the entire bed, but he was young and thin now, so there was not enough space even for him to lie sideways.
After lying like this for a while, Thor did not fall asleep. He had no choice but to curl up into a small ball and cover himself tightly with the quilt, and then he felt an inexplicable sense of security.
This time, he fell asleep quickly.
At 4:15 in the morning, Thor’s biological clock forced Thor to open his eyes.
He sat up and yawned, and the slightly cool air inhaled into his lungs and abdomen immediately made him wake up.
The bright candlelight poured down again, and Thor sat back at the long table.
Just as he was about to turn the page, he suddenly had an idea, walked to the door, pushed it open a little, and looked out.
His room was 604, near the end of the corridor, where he could see the ramp leading up and down the stairs.
After a while, he heard faint footsteps, and a boy appeared in the dim light, pushing a cart up with great effort.
Is it Brown?
Thor opened his eyes wide, and was still a little eager to try, but in the end he suppressed his inner impulse.
Although his identity had changed to an apprentice, his strength was still the same as the day before.
He closed the door again and sat back at the long table.
“I remember Brown was on duty at dawn two days ago, why is he here again today?”
“Is it because I became an apprentice?”
Although there were some problems with the way Thor passed the apprentice test, and many apprentices knew about it.
But the servants might not care about it. They only knew that Thor had changed from a servant to a powerful and terrifying wizard apprentice.
So Brown, who once took the lead in bullying Thor, will probably have to take turns to work in the early morning.
Thor wanted to ask Brown who ordered him to die.
But now was not a good time. First, Thor did not have the ability to torture him to find out the truth, and second, it would easily alert the enemy.
He looked sideways at the hardcover book on his left shoulder and reached out to touch his life-saving book, but unfortunately his fingers passed through the air and only touched nothingness.
“Maybe only when I become a wizard will I be qualified to understand the principles of this hardcover book.”
The threat of death did not retreat because he became an apprentice, but made the shrouded clouds heavier. Thor could not see what kind of conspiracy vortex he was in.
Thor buried his head and plunged into the ocean of knowledge again. Now only learning, continuous learning, can make him feel at ease. What
woke Thor up again was a polite knock on the door.
Outside the door was Keli, with slightly blue eyes, probably also staying up late to study.
“It’s almost time for class, let’s share what we learned last night?” Keli said bluntly.
This may be the true meaning of “geniuses must go hand in hand with geniuses”.
Sol looked up at the time and it was almost time for class. It was even later than he expected.
He quickly picked up his books, paper and pen and rushed out the door.
“You can set a reminder for that hourglass. There are explanations in the apprentice manual.”
Sol subconsciously made an OK gesture, but Keli didn’t understand.
The two walked quickly towards the East Tower, chatting as they walked.
“How long did you read yesterday? I only read for two hours, but my head was already dizzy and I couldn’t calm down. I had to close my eyes and rest for a while.” Keli said in a low voice.
Sol’s heart skipped a beat and he didn’t tell the truth.
“I take a break after reading for about three or four hours in a row.”
In fact, he even ate his meals with a book in his hand yesterday, and only rested properly when he lay on the bed to sleep.
He only slept for four hours in total, and now he is full of energy.
Even so, Keli stared at him in disbelief for a long time with her eyes wide open.
“Your mental power is really terrifying. No wonder you can stare at that puppet for so long.” She looked down at the book in her hand and said with regret, “I wish I could stare at it for so long.”
As they were talking, they came to the large classroom on the tenth floor.
There were so many people sitting here, many of whom were obviously not new apprentices from this batch.
Except for the first row, there were also empty seats in the corner of the last row, and the rest of the places were full of people.
When Thor was hesitating between keeping a low profile or being high-profile, Keli had already walked towards the first row with her head held high.
She found that Thor didn’t follow her, so she turned around and raised her chin at him.
“Let’s go. You can’t keep a low profile anymore.”
