Chapter 11 White Mushrooms

Thor’s first public class was learning witchcraft texts.

The teacher was not a wizard instructor, nor even a third-level apprentice.

It was just a second-level apprentice with a plain appearance.

His mind was not on teaching at all. It was obvious that he took this class just to earn credits.

He spoke very quickly and did not allow people to ask questions.

After being ignored for the third time when she raised her hand, Keli puffed up her cheeks in anger.

“Okay, does anyone feel dizzy or even nauseous after talking about this?” The second-level apprentice in charge of teaching finally raised his head and asked everyone a question.

Seven or eight people raised their hands in the large classroom, obviously all newcomers.

“Heh,” the apprentice in charge of teaching sneered, “You have such poor mental strength, I really don’t understand how you passed the test.”

He snapped the heavy book on the podium shut, straightened up, and crossed his arms across his chest.

“Noah is the most common and basic wizard language. If you can’t even read this language for more than an hour, then I advise you to give up the second-level advancement.”

The newbies who raised their hands put their hands back under the table, their faces flushed with shame. Some people were indignant, but they didn’t dare to refute openly.

The second-level apprentice bent his knuckles and knocked on the cover of the book.

“This is too basic, there is nothing to say. When you go back to study on your own, if you can read the book for more than half an hour without feeling dizzy, you will be considered qualified. If the time is longer, the better, but don’t force it too much. I don’t want a large number of you to die so soon.”

Why did this person suddenly become kind and remind everyone?

Thor felt that he must have another purpose.

Sure enough, the second-level apprentice’s next sentence was, “If you are really too stupid and need to ask me questions, remember to exchange them with magic crystals or credits.”

His eyes fell on Keli who raised her hand several times and raised his eyebrows.

“But I guess you don’t have much money now, just a bunch of white mushrooms.”

He snorted coldly, picked up the book, and walked out of the front door of the classroom with his chin raised.

“White mushrooms?” Keli turned around and asked Thor in confusion, “What do you mean?”

Thor had no knowledge about this in his incomplete memory.

Instead, the first-level apprentice in the back row who was not a newcomer stood up and answered Keli while sorting out the books, “White mushrooms are the weakest, the least valuable, and the most delicious.”

Most of the people in the classroom dispersed at once, and the only ones left were the new apprentices.

Doze, who had been trying to curry favor with Keli yesterday, walked over quickly, and his friend Rocky followed him timidly.

Doze pulled Keli’s sleeve and said, “Keli, why are you still with him…?”

“What do you mean?”

Doze had seen how Thor dealt with Duke yesterday, and he didn’t dare to look Thor in the eye.

“There is a second-level senior targeting him, don’t get implicated.”

He didn’t dare to mention Sol’s cheating to pass the apprenticeship test in front of Sol. He just wanted to wait for a chance to tell Keli privately and persuade him to stay away from Sol, and it would be better to move away from Sol’s next door to avoid being implicated.

“Do you think others will treat us kindly? Ha, white-skinned mushroom!”

Keli turned around and walked away with the book in her arms, imitating the expression of the second-level apprentice who was teaching when he left.

Without Keli blocking the way, Duoze quickly stepped back and looked at Sol vigilantly.

Sol lowered his head, picked up the books and papers on the table, ignored Duoze and walked out of the classroom.

After Sol left, Duoze turned back angrily and said to Rocky: “He actually ignored me?”

Rocky frowned, “Let’s stay away from him.”

The second public class was half an hour later, a meditation class.

Sol followed the requirements of the apprentice manual and took the crystal ball he received yesterday to another large classroom.

This classroom was fan-shaped, with high sides and low corners. The floor was covered with thick cushions and many people were sitting there.

Thor even saw a few second-level apprentices among them.

He found an empty seat and sat down, leaving a seat for Keli next to him.

But just as he sat down, a new apprentice on his left quietly picked up the crystal ball in front of him and changed his seat.

“Childish.” Thor rolled his eyes in his heart. He was not a twelve-year-old child, and this level of exclusion would not affect him.

Just before class, Keli, who had a pigtail, plopped down to sit on Thor’s left.

Thor silently put away the book on the cushion on the right.

“I went to ask about the price.” Keli told Thor, “…It’s really dark!”

“Do you have magic crystals?”

The new apprentices didn’t have credits yet.

“I bought it with pocket money.”

Class time soon arrived, and even passed, and the person in charge of the class hadn’t come yet.

The new apprentices began to whisper, while the old apprentices lowered their eyebrows and eyes and sat very quietly.

Thor opened the meditation book in his hand. There was a weird and chaotic illustration every few pages of this book.

Looking down at the pattern for a while will make you dizzy, which is much more uncomfortable than reading Noah’s text.

Thor carefully avoided the patterns and only read the words on the book.

However, the words on the book were obscure and difficult to understand, and there were many rare words that he didn’t recognize at all.

Thor frowned, just like when he first saw the book yesterday.

At this time, footsteps finally sounded again. Thor looked up and saw a tall blonde beauty walking in with a creature that looked like a lizard or a crocodile.

She walked to the corner at the front of the classroom, loosened the chain of the lizard or crocodile, and stood with her hands on her hips.

“Newcomers, put your crystal balls aside and listen to me first. Those who have learned it should meditate on their own first.”

All the old people around him turned the books one by one, held the crystal balls in their palms, and half closed their eyes.

“Is this meditation?” He thought to himself.

The blonde beauty teacher in front of him started talking again, “I’m Monica, majoring in lightning elements. If you take my class this afternoon, remember not to bring metal objects with you.”

Thor didn’t realize what she meant when a blue arc suddenly rose on Monica’s face.

The electric arc appeared and disappeared quickly, but it left a burnt mark on Monica’s left face and neck.

Monica raised her hand and tore off the burnt skin completely, revealing the bright red texture underneath.

No blood flowed out, but the pulsating muscles looked extremely creepy.

Especially when this huge scar appeared on the face of a beautiful woman, the strong contrast impact made many newcomers lower their heads and dare not look again.

Sol gritted his teeth and looked at Monica. He had seen the scene of Kong Sha’s horrible half head, and he could still hold on with just these.

“Crack, crack, crack…”

The creatures on the ground that looked like lizards and crocodiles actually began to devour the burnt skin thrown by Monica.

It was so crunchy!

Sol and Keli were silent.

These wizards were all very strange. It was hard to find a few who looked normal, but in fact, they were not normal inside.

Sol lowered his head and looked at the white fingertips flowing out of his sleeves.

If he became a wizard, would he also become a monster-like human?

Kongsha’s face, the melting little fat man, the disgusting and terrifying Gudo mentor, and the mentor Monica who was tearing off a layer of beautiful skin from time to time…

Is turning into a monster the price you have to pay to become a wizard?
