Chapter 18 Borrowing Money for Development

“Did he offend anyone?” Thor asked.

“I heard that he brought a book of high-level elven language with him, thinking that he could study it after becoming an apprentice. As a result, he was found in the flower bed this morning.” Keli approached Thor and deliberately used a low and hoarse voice to scare him, “I heard that he cut his legs into several pieces and buried them in the soil as plant roots. When he was found, he almost bled to death.”

“Can he be saved?”

“Who knows? Anyway, he had been transported away when I rushed over.” Keli felt a little sorry.

“Aren’t you afraid?” Thor looked at Keli, a girl in her teens, with some surprise.

Keli held her chin and murmured, “Before I came here, I knew what the wizard world looked like. It’s similar to my family. People always die inexplicably.”

The crazy new apprentice was just a small episode. Keli quickly changed the topic to her experience of carrying a bucket to meet mentor Gudo yesterday.

“…I feel that Guduo is willing to teach me, but he just can’t control his vomiting. The bucket I prepared for him is half a person’s height, but he still vomited all over in less than an hour. I really don’t understand why he can eat so much!”

“Heh…” Thor felt disgusted and funny.

Keli suddenly turned her head to look at Thor, “You finally smiled. When you first came in, you looked like a walking corpse.”

Thor’s smile faded and he rubbed his face with his hands.

Did he look so haggard?

Only the straightforward Keli would say this.

The person in charge of teaching the basic cognition of all things is a second-level apprentice.

He is skinny and has sunken cheeks. He looks more like a corpse than Thor.

He didn’t pay attention to interaction during class. He just read the contents of the book in a flat tone, which made Thor drowsy.

Thor simply opened the book and read it himself.

Because of the rich and colorful experience yesterday, he didn’t have time to preview today’s content.

Basic cognition of all things is like a hodgepodge of biochemistry, history and geography.

Things that can be recorded in the wizard apprentice textbooks have some characteristics of witchcraft.

For example, Thor saw a kind of grass that can increase people’s magic power in the plant chapter.

But the price is that the person who takes it becomes a puppet without mind. Rather than helping people increase their magic power, it is better to sacrifice oneself to refine magic crystals for others.

There are ten books in the basic cognition of all things, each of which is ten centimeters thick. It is impossible to read them quickly.

Thor picked the ones he was interested in reading, occasionally looking up to stretch his muscles.

At this time, he saw that two of Keli’s former followers, Dozer and Locke, were sitting next to Duke and mumbling something.

Keli, who was standing aside, did not say anything about it.

“What are you looking at?” Keli noticed Thor’s line of sight, followed his gaze, and also found Dozer and his little movements.

She pouted, “They want to isolate you, so naive, like a child.”

This class became a self-study class, and later some people even started to learn knowledge from other courses.

The second-level apprentice on the podium just read the first section of the book, and then he started reading other books without paying any attention to the people below.

“No wonder I didn’t see many old apprentices in this class. I guess they all know it’s useless.” Keli muttered. She regretted not bringing other books.

“Keli, can you lend me some magic crystals?” After brewing for a long time, Thor finally mustered up the courage to say to Keli.

“What do you want magic crystals for?” Keli looked at her warily, “I won’t do a deal that is a one-way deal!”

“I want to borrow two books from the library.”

“Someone just went crazy reading random books, aren’t you afraid?”

Thor said sincerely, “I won’t read random books, but I really need some special books now.”

Keli didn’t ask Thor specifically what books he wanted to read. After hesitating for a while, she poured out five black translucent diamond pieces from her wallet.

“I can only lend you five. You have to return them to me in three months… return them to me…”

“Ten.”

“Deal!”

“Do you need to write an IOU?”

“Of course!”

Thor tore off a page from a blank book, and the two reached their first monetary transaction.

After the first class, the second class was the rune construction that everyone was looking forward to.

Rune construction is the basis of witchcraft.

However, to everyone’s disappointment, the instructor of this class was still only a second-level apprentice.

This guy went even further. He only explained the most basic rune drawing once and let everyone practice on their own.

Many newcomers only understood half of what he had said and wanted him to explain it again, but he actually wanted to charge money for it!

When Thor heard that he wanted money, he simply gave up.

He recalled the knowledge points that had just been taught, and thought he remembered them clearly, so he began to draw the first basic rune in his mind.

With his eyes closed, the first basic rune was clearly imprinted in Thor’s mind.

He opened his eyes and was stunned for a moment, a little unbelievable.

“I think I have… memorized it?”

In order to prevent his eyes from memorizing it but his hands from memorizing it, Thor picked up a pen and wrote it on a blank piece of paper.

He opened the book and compared the runes he wrote with those in the book.

They were exactly the same!

Even the arc of each line was the same!

Thor closed the book and tried again. This time he changed to a special pen and ink, and began to pour the magic power in his body into the tip of the pen according to what the lecturer on the stage said.

It was a bit difficult to write this time.

The magic power should be evenly output and combined with the operation of mental power to construct a basic rune.

Any step that is not done well will cause the rune to collapse, and the magic power will be directly invalidated, turning into an ordinary pattern on a white paper.

Thor concentrated all his attention.

Then,

he succeeded!

Although it was only drawn on ordinary white paper, the surface of the rune was flowing with a strange color, and the magic power fluctuations emitted were clearly felt.

“You, you succeeded?” Keli widened her eyes and murmured.

She originally wanted to spend some money to listen to the explanation again. Seeing that Thor succeeded at once, she suddenly felt that it would be okay to study it again.

Thor did not pay attention to Keli’s voice, and his eyes had already turned to the next basic rune.

The second one.

Success!

Great success!

The third one.

Success!

The fourth one.

…Failed.

Thor frowned.

This failure was not because he had memorized the wrong rune, but because he did not have enough magic power.

His magic power could only last for three runes?

Or was there something wrong with the way he output magic power?

Thor finally deeply sensed the harm of insufficient magic power.

No wonder Kong Sha felt that she had him in her hands, and no wonder Teacher Kaz didn’t even want to look at her any more.

Thor’s chest rose and fell violently for a few times, and finally slowly calmed down.

“Why are you panicking?” He said to himself in his heart, “Haven’t you made up your mind?”

Thor took out the crystal ball and the walking diagram of the monster, and began to meditate to restore his magic power.

Having less magic power also has its advantages, and it recovers quickly.

We must learn to look at things dialectically.

Thor successfully drew three runes in a row, which had already attracted the attention of the whole class.

Not only the new apprentices, but also the old apprentices and even the second-level apprentices on the podium were shocked by the series of magic fluctuations from Thor.

There were even a few newcomers who were going to bleed and ask the second-level apprentices for teaching, and they turned their feet and prepared to ask Thor for advice.

But after seeing that Thor only drew three runes and began to meditate, these people began to hesitate again.

Could it be that there was something wrong with the rune construction of the newcomers? Besides, they couldn’t just go over and interrupt their meditation, right?

Duke in front of him rolled his eyes, turned around and said something to his two companions, picked up his rune and rushed to the podium – every apprentice who came from outside had some magic crystals prepared on him.

The second-level apprentice on the podium seemed very satisfied that Duke was the first to find him, and lowered his voice to tell him a lot, which made the newcomers in the audience envious.

And Duke always cooperated with him, showing an expression of sudden enlightenment and that’s why.

Angela, who was sitting on the edge of the classroom, slowly slid her cute big eyes from the podium to the back of the classroom, and finally fell on Thor, revealing an interested expression.
