Diary of a Dead Wizard - Chapter 20
Chapter 20 Excellent people always wait for opportunities
Mark saw determination in Thor’s eyes.
Although he didn’t know how a newcomer who had just become an apprentice decided to transform his witch body the next day.
You know, he hesitated for a whole month before he cut his own hands.
But now, Mark can see a certain value in Thor.
The other party who can escape from the midnight laboratory is definitely not an ordinary newcomer.
Either he has the ability or he has a backer.
“Then you copy it first. This book is very straightforward. If you want to study in depth after reading it, you can come to the laboratory to find me. I will be here for this month.”
Such a gentle senior Mark made the other two newcomers in the laboratory drop their jaws.
“Thank you, senior Mark.”
Thor sat down again. He didn’t have much time, and he had to race against time to copy the book.
Mark left the space for Thor and walked to the other side of the laboratory.
At this time, Ankitta, who had been observing for a long time, picked up the book in front of her, walked to Mark and showed a sweet smile.
“Senior, when I was learning to construct runes today, there were a few places that I couldn’t succeed. Can you teach me?”
Angela propped her chin with a book, trying to show her cute side.
“Of course,” Mark smiled, “10 magic crystals, or 2 credits.”
The surprise that had just risen in Angela’s eyes suddenly extinguished.
She only had a few dozen magic crystals on her, how could she spend them just by asking a few questions?
“I, I’d better think about it myself.”
Angela hurried back to her seat and lowered her head deeply, fearing that she would see other people’s mocking eyes.
She thought she could only find a chance to ask Professor Kaz, but her and Duke’s performance yesterday did not seem to satisfy Professor Kaz.
I wonder if he will come to the laboratory today?
A book called “Green’s Witch Body Transformation Cognition” is not thick, only more than a hundred pages, and it is not a printed version, so there are not many words in total.
When copying, Sol skipped some useless exclamations, only extracted the dry goods, and took notes.
But for a newcomer who has only been in school for two days, it is still more difficult than he thought to fully understand this book.
Thor was not polite, holding the book and went to Mark to ask.
From the change in the other party’s attitude, Thor could more or less see that the other party was trying to compensate him.
He didn’t know why.
Was it because Thor successfully survived that made the other party afraid, or was it because Mark knew about
Fan’s action? Whatever the reason, Thor didn’t delay the opportunity to get some rewards first.
With Mark’s help in summarizing the knowledge points, Thor’s copying speed was greatly improved. He was fully confident that he could copy down all the important contents of the book before noon tomorrow. In
this way, the 2 magic crystals would not be wasted.
Teacher Kaz appeared after 3:30 again.
However, he kept frowning, as if thinking about some difficult problem.
Duke, who was about to ask questions, was easily blocked.
The two newcomers then knew why other apprentices would not come to the laboratory to ask questions.
The patient explanation on the first day seemed to be just a deceptive opening statement. When you are introduced to it, you will immediately reveal your true indifference.
Duke failed to find a sense of superiority from Thor again. His expression was a little flustered, and his eyes secretly glancing at Thor became more and more complicated.
But no one expected that after thinking for a while in the laboratory with a sad face, mentor Kaz suddenly walked to Thor.
“Teacher?” Mark thought Kaz was looking for him, and stood up nervously.
Unexpectedly, Kaz stood in front of Thor, “Come with me.”
Thor was shocked at first, but then he was happy.
Yesterday, Duke and Angela were taken away, and he was left behind, which was equivalent to being abandoned by the mentor, but today the mentor actually remembered him again.
What made him change his mind?
Thor quickly packed up his books and followed Kaz quietly.
They walked down the slope of the East Tower. Occasionally, when they met apprentices on the road, they would avoid them and bow their heads to salute.
As a new apprentice, Thor had never been to the lower floors of the East Tower.
The lower floors of the West Tower were the residences of the butler and servants, and the first floor at the bottom was a garbage dump.
When Thor cleaned the corridor, he would take the garbage back to the utility room. Someone would clean and carry it regularly. He had never been to the garbage dump and didn’t know what it was like.
He only heard that the servants who went there were all old servants with years of experience, and they were all eccentric and rarely interacted with outsiders.
The further down he went, the dimmer the lights in the corridor became. Thor kept his head down and followed mentor Kaz closely, without looking inside curiously.
But he was counting the floors silently in his mind.
9,
8,
7,
…
2!
When he counted down to two, Kaz suddenly turned around and took him into this floor.
At the entrance to the second floor, there was a big man who looked to be more than 200 pounds, leaning against the wall, sitting on the ground motionless.
The entire corridor was mostly blocked.
Kaz took Thor through the remaining gap, and the big man still didn’t respond.
After two steps, there was a red wooden door.
Kaz pushed the door open and entered, and the door panel made a harsh creaking sound.
As soon as Thor followed in, a pungent stench mixed with the smell of blood entered his nose.
Thor immediately held his breath and looked up at the instructor in front of him.
It was as if he had no nose. His expression remained unchanged and he stayed in the center of the room.
The walls around the room were covered with pale powder. There were words Thor didn’t recognize written on them like graffiti.
Fortunately, although these words looked a bit messy, they didn’t make Thor dizzy.
In the center of the room was a conveyor belt extending from the wall.
The entrance was blocked by black leather tassels, and you couldn’t see inside.
Next to the conveyor belt was a long table, which was filled with various square boxes of different sizes.
These boxes were open at the moment, with nothing inside, but the edges and corners were stained with some unknown sticky substances.
Some boxes also had clusters of fingertip-sized mushrooms growing on the outside.
Some tools such as hammers and chisels were hung on one side of the table.
There was also a large box with wheels under the long table. The box was also open, and the inner wall was stained with patches of dark red and almost black.
The box seemed to be the source of the stench and blood in the room.
Near the inner wall, there was a table and two chairs. The chairs were pulled open casually. There
were many books stacked on the table, as well as scattered single pages of paper, an overturned pen holder, and pens that rolled down the pen holder to the ground.
“The first and second floors of the East Tower are rooms for corpses. This is the second floor.”
Corpses?
Thor pursed his lips, and suddenly he had an association with everything he had just seen.
“If you are competent for the work here, you can get 3 credits every month.”
Thor looked up suddenly.
It was written in the apprentice manual that one credit could be exchanged for ten magic crystals, and credits were more useful. On the contrary, ten magic crystals could not be exchanged for one credit!
Thor couldn’t help it, and the words “I want, I can, I can” in his mouth were about to push through his teeth and lips and come out by themselves.
But he suddenly thought of Angela and Duke yesterday. Were they also brought here? However, they did not meet Kaz’s requirements, so they returned to the laboratory again today?
“What do you need me to do?” Thor tried to make his voice sound calm and well-behaved.
“Deal with the alienated corpses.” Kaz said as he pulled down a wrench next to the conveyor platform.
The conveyor belt rolled, and soon, a fresh corpse broke through the black leather tassels and turned in front of the two people.
Thor could actually guess that he would definitely do work related to corpses. But when the real corpse appeared in front of him, he still couldn’t help but turn pale and took two steps back.
The corpse tied to the conveyor belt was covered with a piece of black leather, and the face was not damaged and exposed outside the leather.
Thor recognized at a glance that this person was the new apprentice that Keli said cut his legs into shreds and buried them in the flower bed yesterday!
