Diary of a Dead Wizard - Chapter 21
Chapter 21: Money is Hard to Earn
Thor took two steps back in shock, his feet stomping on the brick floor, making a heavy sound.
The corpse tied to the conveyor belt suddenly opened its eyes, its head did not move, but its eyes looked desperately to the left.
After seeing Thor and Kaz, its pupils suddenly dilated and trembled slightly, as if it saw something exciting.
“He’s still alive?” Thor couldn’t help asking Kaz.
“How is that possible?” Kaz walked forward calmly and lifted the black leather covering the new apprentice in front of Thor.
Under the leather was a cut chest, with ribs open like wings, and the chest was empty.
The legs below had become strips of meat mixed with dirt and stones.
They were cut very finely.
But the apprentice’s eyes were still moving, and turned upwards as Kaz walked. His lips were slightly cracked, revealing white teeth inside.
Thor felt his stomach churning.
During these days of traveling through time, he had seen a lot of bloody and horrible things in the wizard tower, which made him hold back from vomiting on the spot.
Now, the test for him has begun.
He forced himself not to look away.
The feeling of nausea and dizziness was still there, but Thor kept telling himself that it was just a corpse that could not move, and it would not suddenly stand up and swallow half of his face.
The fear was slightly relieved.
“His brain has long been dead, and what is left here is not his own soul. And it is not aggressive under normal circumstances.” Kaz covered the black leather and turned to ask Thor, “Are you scared?”
Thor took a deep breath of the fishy air.
“Scared.”
“Huh?” Kaz raised his eyebrows.
“But I can do it.”
“Huh.” Instructor Kaz snorted, “This job is not something you can do just because you want to. The corpse in front of you has been processed twice, dealing with dangers and recycling materials. These alienated corpses must be specially processed and eliminated in the end, otherwise they will run out and turn the wizard tower into a strange place. But before eliminating them, we can leave some useful experimental materials. What you have to do is the final finishing and cleaning.”
Kaz’s dry hands slapped the black leather.
“Pah!”
“You need to use your knowledge or your inspiration to find the part that has become demonic due to the alienation, but has no ghosts attached to it. Divide it and put it in different boxes on the table, cover it with lids for recycling and preliminary storage. The rest is collected in the big box below. When you leave at night, the people outside will take away the boxes and replace them with new ones.”
“I will score your work based on the amount of useful materials. As long as the number of materials submitted each month exceeds five, it will be considered qualified. If it exceeds ten, you can get an extra credit.”
Kaz raised his chin and pointed at the still moving corpse. “Now, tell me, which part do you think can be recycled?”
Thor walked to the conveyor belt and pointed at the trembling eyeballs with courage.
“Is this useful?”
“No.” Kaz had no expression on his face.
It seems that the parts that appear to be active on the surface are not necessarily useful.
It may also be because they have been contaminated after being alienated by some strange thing and cannot be reused, so for wizards, it is useless.
This money is really not easy to earn.
Do dark attribute wizards deal with corpses and ghosts?
Thor took a deep breath again.
Now he has adapted to the smell here. Although it still smells fishy, it won’t make him vomit.
He lifted the black leather and looked over.
Perhaps it was because his mental power had been developed after becoming an apprentice. Thor still felt uncomfortable, but he could already observe the pool of blood on the conveyor belt with his eyes without being frightened and dizzy.
This broken corpse was no different from Thor’s n*ked eyes. Thor couldn’t determine where else he could use as a wizard material.
In his peripheral vision, Thor found that Kaz’s left hand was constantly tapping his right arm, and his patience was about to run out.
“Through my knowledge or my inspiration… But the knowledge I have now can’t help me distinguish at all. Then I can only use inspiration. What is inspiration? Intuition, or mental power?”
Thor’s eyes carefully moved to his left shoulder. Unfortunately, his hardcover book was only responsible for saving his life, not for making money and working. At this moment, it was as quiet as a salted fish lying flat.
Then Thor had only one way to try.
He stood in front of the new apprentice’s body and began to visualize the walking picture of the monster.
Without the help of the crystal ball, it was difficult to enter immersion. But last night’s experience in the laboratory allowed Thor to enter a semi-meditative state without relying on the crystal ball.
In this state, he could see elemental particles and some things that were usually invisible to the n*ked eye.
In Thor’s eyes, the still movable eyeballs stretched out of the face like the tentacles of a snail, shaking up and down, curiously looking at the world.
The lips of the corpse were covered with a layer of hard black thorns.
The teeth under the lips flashed slightly.
Thor stared at the flash that appeared and disappeared at that time, and felt that the flash was familiar.
It was like when he played games before, there were prompts for dropped items.
“Pick up the bag, pick up the bag.”
“Haven’t found it yet? I can give you a hint. There are at least two places on this corpse that can be recycled. As long as you can find one, you will pass.”
Kaz’s impatient voice interrupted Thor’s meditation.
Thor didn’t have time to tell whether the scene he explored with his mental power was reliable. He raised his hand and pointed at the mouth of the corpse.
Kaz frowned, “Are you referring to his mouth?”
“No, his teeth.”
Kaz’s face flashed with a brief surprise.
He walked forward, picked up a thin black stick from the long table behind him, and pried open the lips of the corpse.
“Ahem…” He turned around and looked at Thor with a slightly unnatural expression, “Yes, this is one.”
Success!
Thor suppressed his excitement and continued to observe other parts of the body with semi-immersive meditation.
Then,
he saw two flashes.
Thor pretended to point out one of them uncertainly.
Kaz nodded and asked him if he had any other findings.
Thor carefully observed it from top to bottom again, ignored the last flash, straightened up and said to his mentor: “I didn’t find anything else.”
“Well, not bad.” Kaz casually pointed out the flash that Thor saw but didn’t say, and said lightly, “There is another one here.”
Next, Kaz verbally instructed Thor to use the props on the experimental table behind him to split and recycle the materials. Then put them in three small boxes on the table, cover the lids, and insert the latches.
The remaining parts of the body were rolled up with the black leather and placed in the large box under the long table.
The large box was engraved with a witchcraft array, which had a sealing effect on ghosts.
Only a large bloody mark was left on the conveyor belt.
Kaz nodded, raised his chin and signaled Thor to turn the wrench on the side of the conveyor again.
With the sound of the machine turning, the blood-stained conveyor belt turned to the bottom of the machine, and another corpse came out from behind the black leather tassel.
Thor saw the head also exposed outside the leather, and his eyes narrowed instantly.
This dead person… he also knew her.
She tried to seduce Thor on the first day of delivering teaching materials, and appeared in Thor’s nightmare that night.
That plump maid!
Why did she die too?
Was it an accident or man-made?
“Do you know her?” Looking at Thor’s expression, Kaz asked in a flat voice.
“Well, she once delivered teaching materials to me.”
“Death is a common thing in the wizard tower.”
“If you keep dying like this, what will happen if everyone dies?”
“Go to the nearby town to recruit people, they are very willing to send people in.”
After the chat, Instructor Kaz pointed at the maid, “She has… at least one usable part on her body. If you can find it this time, I will give this job to you.”
Thor was refreshed, and he didn’t care about the sadness for the maid, and lifted the black leather covering her body.
The maid’s body was n*ked, and the long wound on her chest proved that she had also been dissected. But she was just an ordinary person after all. Although she died in a strange way, there were not many abnormal parts on her body.
Unlike the new apprentice just now, when he was sent to the big box under the table, he was already a light pile.
