Diary of a Dead Wizard - Chapter 27
Chapter 27 Composite Rune
Although Mark agreed to guide Thor, he would not waste all his beautiful morning time on this first-level newcomer. The learning tasks of the second-level apprentices are also very heavy, especially since they will be tested in a month.
Rather than saying that Mark taught Thor, it is better to say that Thor first studied on his own, and then asked Mark when he encountered difficulties and did not understand.
Unfortunately, even with Mark’s explanation, Thor only had a vague understanding of many places and could not figure out the logical relationship at all.
Before leaving at noon, Thor made another request to Mark.
“Do you want to borrow the puppet doll for testing mental power?” Mark did not hesitate, and went directly to the cabinet in the laboratory to open the door and randomly took out a puppet doll from it.
The moment Mark opened the cabinet door, Thor could not help but take two steps back.
Looking at Thor’s vigilant look, Mark found it funny again, “You are afraid, and you still want to borrow it?”
“That’s why I need to borrow it because I am afraid.” Thor was careful not to make eye contact with the puppet doll.
Thor reached out to take it, and Mark casually placed the puppet in his palm.
“Friendship price, 5 magic crystals for 10 days.”
“Then I’ll borrow it for 2 days first.”
Mark’s face turned black. “No for 2 days!”
Thor simply said, “I only have 3 magic crystals in my hand.”
The magic crystals he has now were also exchanged with Keli for credits.
You can give it to friends, but you can’t give it to enemies.
In the end, Mark still took away Thor’s three magic crystals and warned Thor that he could do research, but if it was damaged, he would have to pay 2 credits for compensation.
Wrapping the puppet doll with layers of cloth strips, Thor carefully put the doll into the pocket of his apprentice robe.
“Take me away, take me away…”
Thor paused, “Senior, did you hear that?”
“Huh?” Mark had already sat back at the table, immersed in research.
“No, nothing…”
Thor pinched his robe pocket with one hand, as if he was afraid that something would run out of it.
He picked up the book and turned to leave the laboratory.
On the way back to the West Tower, someone stopped Thor.
Thor was familiar with her and knew that she was a first-level rookie in the same period as him, but he forgot her name.
“Thor,” the little girl looked a little shy, “I have something to tell you.”
She pinched her clothes, and her index finger kept turning the knot on it.
“Can you finish it within five sentences?” The girl came out suddenly, and Thor almost rushed to her.
The other party was stunned, with a somewhat aggrieved expression.
“Sorry, I’m in a hurry.”
“But I…” The girl’s eyes suddenly turned red.
Thor simply bypassed her, muttering loudly, “It’s over, it’s too late, too late.”
The girl stood there in a daze, and did not catch up.
It didn’t seem to be a big deal.
But Thor still couldn’t get out of the passage.
At the end of the passage, another person jumped out.
“Hi, Thor!”
Thor knew this person, it was Doze.
The new guy who used to run after Keli and later mixed with Duke.
This time, he was not followed by the indecisive Rocky.
Since discovering that Thor’s magic talent was very low, Doze has not taken the initiative to find him for a long time.
“Sorry, I’m really in a hurry.” Thor turned around and wanted to bypass Doze again.
But Duoze raised his hand and blocked the passage.
“I have five sentences to say.”
Thor could only stop.
“Senior Luo Kai led a group of freshmen to form a mutual aid association. There, everyone can learn from each other and discuss with each other. Today at 2 o’clock in the afternoon is the second meeting of the mutual aid association. Do you want to come?”
“Does it cost money?”
“Uh, ordinary students are charged…”
“I’m out of money.” Thor nodded politely, then pushed Doze’s hand away and walked out.
Doze quickly turned around and shouted to Thor, “Kelly has agreed to participate today.”
Thor stopped, looked back at Doze’s smug expression, and said sincerely, “I really don’t have any money.”
He left in a hurry, and finally no one stopped him.
After a quick lunch, Thor came to the morgue on the second floor of the East Tower.
This has become his study room, and the dormitory is only used for evening self-study and rest.
The outermost morgue has been reorganized by Thor. In addition to the teleportation platform and two long tables, a cabinet has been added, which contains some necessary experimental supplies that Thor exchanged.
These instruments and materials have used up the remaining credits in Thor’s hand.
If the Wizard Tower had not provided food and accommodation, Thor would have been starving.
In addition to the things Thor bought, there are also some alienated materials he took from corpses in the cabinet.
An accident made Thor discover that if the materials he took down were not placed in the empty box on the long table, then the next day these materials would not be taken away, but would remain in their original place.
After studying “Green’s Witchcraft Transformation Cognition” and “Corpse Refining Guide”, Thor already knew how to use some basic materials.
So every time he worked, if he could obtain more than two materials, he would leave one.
As for whether it would be considered stealing?
Thor thought not.
The book on corpse research given to him by mentor Kaz was not just used to test the residual characteristics of the corpse.
The second half of the book was all about how to preserve materials, some simple applications, and a little discussion about the soul.
Since the mentor asked him to study this book, he must have wanted him to learn the knowledge behind it.
However, even if Thor bought a container specifically for perishable materials, it would be difficult to prevent the natural decay of the corpse.
Fortunately, the book “Corpse” also mentioned a 0th-level witchcraft – organ preservation.
In order to learn this witchcraft, Thor must first master the complex dark attribute compound rune.
This is also the reason why he has been studying hard day and night these days.
However, the difficulty of this dark attribute compound rune was beyond Sol’s imagination. Even though he had a high talent for mental power, he still couldn’t quickly understand the principle.
That’s why he spent magic crystals to ask senior Mark for advice. Unfortunately, although senior Mark gave him some ideas for solving the problem, he still couldn’t find the correct answer.
Sol carefully drew the basic figure of the compound rune on a piece of white paper with a water-absorbing pen.
“Through the coordinate axis, it can be basically determined that the figure I drew is consistent with the original rune. But why can’t I activate this rune when I draw it with mental power?”
This compound rune is already one of the simplest compound runes.
It looks like a new pattern composed of two basic runes overlapped together. It’s
just that one of the runes is reduced in proportion.
“Senior Mark said that the compound rune is not just the overlap of two basic runes, but also their proportional relationship. But I also distributed the magic power in proportion, but it seems that there is still something wrong?”
“Senior Mark also said to pay attention to the angle. What is the angle of observation?”
Sol held the white paper in front of him, level with his eyes.
Suddenly he had a flash of inspiration.
“Could it be the perspective angle?”
Thor immediately put the paper down, used a ruler to find the center point to draw a perspective diagram, and tried to explore the distance between the two diagrams by calculating the proportional relationship.
“No!”
After working for a long time, he still couldn’t activate the rune.
“I calculated it more than ten times and it should be correct. Then it’s not a perspective diagram.”
Thor was a little annoyed and rolled up the compound rune that he had drawn into a mess and threw it into the trash can.
He stared at the waste paper in the trash can in a daze.
“Where exactly did I understand it wrong?”
The runes in the trash can were crumpled, concave, convex, vertical, and flat.
It seemed that countless small runes were dancing and jumping in front of Thor’s eyes.
“Wait!” Thor’s eyes suddenly lit up, and he raised his hand and slapped his forehead. “I have already thought that the two runes may not overlap, but there is a distance in space. Why didn’t I think that the planes where the two runes are located may not be parallel?”
Thor took out a new blank paper and drew a three-dimensional coordinate axis on it.
