Chapter 6

[ this maybe the longest chapter y’all:0]

People found Zhan Lue’s action surprising just like when he said he was going to marry Xian Sheng back then. His bluntness caught the others off guard.

Xian Sheng didn’t understand why Zhan Lue was doing this. In his impression, Zhan Lue wasn’t easily enchanted by appearance. He was very young and handsome, with a noble status. He had courage and resolution. What sorts of beautiful women haven’t he seen before?

Why must he close in on him step by step?

When they met at the border, Jin Country’s envoys clearly said that they could go slowly in order to take care of the princess’s body. The wedding will be held during the spring of next year.

But now, because Zhan Lue didn’t want to wait anymore, the wedding was shifted to an earlier date. He wasn’t mentally prepared in the least bit.

They will get married three days later which means that they’ll have their wedding night three days later.

Xian Sheng couldn’t breathe again.

The horse carriage drove into the courtyard of the post station before it stopped.

Ruyi called, “Princess, you can get off the horse carriage nwo.”

Xian Sheng sat for a while before gradually pulling the curtains over to see if Zhan Lue was still there. He met his gaze right then and he immediately placed the curtains down.

He was still here.

He braced himself and got out of the horse carriage. He looked up to see the pedal placed in front of the horse carriage for him to step on. The moment he was about to step on it, Zhan Lue suddenly said, “Our Jin Country has an unwritten custom. The three days before the bride gets married, they can’t walk.”

Xian Sheng subconsciously withdrew his feet, not thinking much about it. “Why?”

The bodyguard also looked up at his highness, confused.

Zhan Zhen said: “Because you want to keep your jade feet clean, you have to wait until the day of marriage for your husband to hold the sedan chair. Only in this way can you become the Pearl of your husband’s eyes and have a happy marriage.”

Xian Sheng was skeptical, thinking that the people of the North Country had lots of trivial matters. However, since he was here, he would follow the customs. He still said to Ruyi, “Go get a quilt and spread it on the ground all the way until the bed in the room.”

Ruyi was about to answer when Zhan Lue interrupted, “Your husband is here. Why make an extra move?”

He lazily walked over and then kicked the pedal out of the way. He slightly shook his red windbreaker before extending his two arms at Xian Sheng.

Xian Sheng kneeled on the horse carriage and froze for a bit. Ruyi cleverly replied, “How can we trouble Your Highness? Plus, the princess isn’t married yet. It’s unfit according to the rules. This maid will go to prepare the quilt right now. It won’t delay time by that much.”

“North Jin is open-minded and there aren’t that many rules. I haven’t seen the princess for so many years, so I should try to build up our relationship.”

He looked calm and unruffled. Xian Sheng couldn’t help but look at his surroundings. Zhan Lue’s guards all turned around, serving as the role models and giving their master enough face to do what he wanted.

“Princess?”

Follow the local customs, follow the local customs.

While comforting himself, Xian Sheng gradually extended his hand. He fell into Zhan Lue’s arms, disregarding everything. Zhan Lue took this opportunity to hold him in his arms.

Xian Sheng wasn’t that heavy but he wore thick clothes. When Zhan Lue was carrying him, Xian Sheng purposely fell down and his pale white face was squished against the collar of his clothes. His hat almost fell off and his face was scrunched into a bun, looking as if he had given up.

Zhan Lue looked down and propped one foot up while bending his knee and raising his leg, placing Xian Sheng on his legs like a little. After he evened out the collar on Xian Sheng’s clothes and pulled the hat up for him, Zhan Lue started carrying him again. He said in Xian Sheng’s ears, “That’s how you should be.”

Xian Sheng disliked Zhan Lue’s touch and shifted his face to the side.

The post station was clearly set up for him to temporarily live in. The items in the room were all prepared. The tables, chairs, and bed were really clean as well. Xian Sheng was placed on the bed and he tugged on his clothes.

Besides stopping for a snack and living in a tavern, Xian Sheng almost never got off the horse carriage. He just wore the shoes because he thought he was getting off the horse carriage and the bottom of the shoes were clean too. After he got off, he decided to move his feet back and hide it underneath his long gown. He stood up straight and said, “Troubling Your Highness.”

After all, he was the princess of the Liang Country, so he kept to his bearing. Even if he slept the entire way and had messy hair without any hair accessories, he had a quite elegant and graceful temperament still.

“According to the rules, the Princess Consort can only move into the East Palace after the wedding. The place is worn-down here, so the princess will have to suffer for two days.”

“It’s Xian Sheng’s blessing to be able to marry Your Highness. How can you use the word ‘suffer?’ Your Highness, you must be joking.”

Zhan Lue was being polite and so was Xian Sheng. The man suddenly smiled with an unknown intention. He bent down and moved closer to Xian Sheng, saying in a gentle voice, “Since you know it’s a blessing, you must grab onto this opportunity and not let me worry about you, right?”

There was a double meaning behind his words. Xian Sheng faintly felt pressure and was forced to nod his head. He braced himself and said, “I know.”

“I have other matters to attend to, so I won’t be staying here. Eat something and rest well.”

He was efficient and quick, turning around and walking out of the door. The silk brocade bag by his waist fluttered and then landed. Ruyi glanced at Zhan Lue’s figure as he walked out of the post station, trembling in fear. Shen then hurried in to hear Xian Sheng coughing. She rushed over to pour a cup of water for him. “Princess, he left. Did he bully you before?”

Xian Sheng drank the cup of water to relieve his throat, saying emotionally, “Now that it has come to this point, so what if he bullied me?”

“Princess…” Ruyi wanted to say something but was worried that she might make him think of past memories. She became spirited and then said, “This maid will go prepare a few furnaces to warm the room for you. Don’t get a cold again.”

It was incredibly cold in here and the room was big and empty. Even if he wore a lot, Xian Sheng still felt the wind creeping into his bones.

He couldn’t help but think of the warm and spring-like capital. In his impression, all the winters that he had experienced before in the capital were not as cold as this one winter.

“It’s fine.” He stopped Ruyi and said, “Leave it like this.”

If he gets a cold, he’ll have an excuse to delay the wedding.

He obviously knew that Zhan Lue was telling him to not cause trouble before he left. But how could Xian Sheng possibly listen to him? He was sure that if he followed Zhan Lue’s way, his death would be the wedding night three days later.

Who knows? Maybe Zhan Lue would become furious and strip him of his clothes after chopping him to pieces, throwing him to the market for everyone to see.

Just thinking about it made Xian Sheng suffocate.

Ruyi knew that although he had a quiet personality, nothing could change his mind. She advised him but he didn’t respond. Therefore, she went to light up the incense. While she was at it, she went to tidy up Xian Sheng’s daily items with the mamas.

Not only didn’t Xian Sheng listen to Zhan Lue’s words, he also quickly got out of bed. What did Zhan Lue mean when he said that he couldn’t walk? That the marriage will only be blissful if he kept his feet above ground? That was hilarious. Who wants to be his beloved? Not only was he going to walk around, he planned to take a stroll in the backyard and step into the mud. He came back after enjoying the cold for a while.

But before he exited the room, he noticed that people were bustling about in the room and they brought in seven furnaces.

Before he could say anything, Ruyi had quickly run over and explained in a low voice, “This maid didn’t order this. It seems to be the Crown Prince’s work.”

She just finished when a guard walked over and said respectfully, “Your Highness wants this guard to send you a message.”

Xian Sheng felt like this didn’t look good. “What?”

“Your Highness said that he knows that the princess feels wronged, having to abandon your family. You were bound to play tricks and hurt yourself in order to test your husband’s feelings for you. Princess, don’t worry. Your Highness really pampers you. See, he even ordered people to bring over top-quality coal to warm your room up and prevent you from getting a cold. Someone is guarding the window, so even a huge gust of wind can’t blow the window open in the middle of the night. Princess just needs to be at ease and wait for the day of the wedding. You just need to eat and drink to your heart’s content.”

Xian Sheng’s body swayed. Ruyi hurriedly helped him up only to see him breathing with difficulty as if trying to suppress something. “And?”

The guard’s gaze landed on his feet. He hesitated before continuing, “And Your Highness said that the princess is mischievous and definitely won’t listen to his words and stay in bed. He said that you might even purposely play in the mud. However, you don’t need to worry about breaking the customs and not becoming the Crown Prince’s beloved because that custom is just a lie…”

He suddenly paused. Seeing that the noble princess pursed her lips and clenched her teeth, seemingly angry and was breathing heavily, he changed his words from “in order to hug you” into “no matter what, after the wedding, Your Highness will love the princess dearly.”

Xian Sheng was speechless.

The guard was dumbstruck.

Damnit. The princess seemed to be angrier than before.

Xian Sheng coughed anxiously and his face slightly flushed. He went back into his room without looking back.

He sat on the bed and his eyelashes blinked. He pursed his lips but he still couldn’t stop coughing. His eyes became gradually teary.

Ruyi took the water and handed it to him. Seeing him like this, she immediately scolded: “This Zhan Lue Lue is really ridiculous! So frivolous before marriage Princess, you don’t have the same opinion with him. After all, our house is warm, and you can be more comfortable. Although his mouth is disgusting, it’s done, isn’t it?”

She said the last sentence softly and carefully.

Xian Sheng’s gaze landed on the embroidered flowers on the bed for a while. After a moment, he reminded, “This is Jin Country. Be careful of your words.”

Ruyi immediately realized that she addressed him by his nickname. She hurriedly nodded and said, “The medicine should be ready in a bit. Princess can drink to relieve your throat.”

“You can leave. I’m fine.”

Ruyi was speechless.

If your eyes aren’t teary, this maid will believe you.

She had been serving Xian Sheng since he was young. Like maid like sister. She knew that although he appeared gentle on the surface, he was delicate and spoiled. As a child, he had never been denied anything before. In the past, whenever his eyes became teary, his elder brothers and father would give him whatever he wanted. He had never suffered a grievance like this.

If it weren’t that Crown Prince Zhan Lue insisted on having him and that the Liang Country had no other choice, they wouldn’t bear to send him over.

Originally, several princes were going to follow along to the journey to the North Jin. However, the Liang Country was in chaos and in trouble. Xian Sheng also stopped them so they only walked him to the border. Thinking of this now, it must be because Xian Sheng was worried that his elder brothers may protect him and end up stirring trouble in the capital.

The room gradually became warmer. Besides the occasional coughing, one could hear a pin drop in the room.

Xian Sheng ate dinner and then took the medicine. It didn’t taste like anything and the taste was faint in his mouth. He ate a pickled plum and strolled around in the room for a while, walking to the window, unresigned.

The moment the window was opened, a plain face appeared in front of him. “Does the princess have any orders?”

Xian Sheng closed the window.

He walked to another window and he saw another simple face talking in a simple tone, “It’s cold outside. Princess, take care.”

He went to another window and it was the same result. Before the person could say anything, Xian Sheng knitted his eyebrows and closed the window.

After a few bangs, Xian Sheng sat back on the bed angrily. He was sure that Zhan Lue had seen through his motive of delaying the wedding and at the same time, he knew that the man was determined to have their wedding in three days.

Everything that happened before was the man trying to tell him that he couldn’t escape.

Since he thought about Zhan Lue in the day, Xian Sheng ended up dreaming about him at night.

In his dream, he got sick as he wished, and it was very serious. He couldn’t even stand up still. But on the day of their wedding, Zhan Lue still had the wedding as planned. He carried Xian Sheng onto the sedan chair and then carried him over to do the ceremony. When they were done, Zhan Lue carried him into the bedroom.

The sick Xian Sheng allowed Zhan Lue to torture him as if he was a doll. When he figured out the truth, he was furious and killed him on the mandarin duck blanket. Then, Zhan Lue beheaded Xian Sheng and grabbed his head, starting a war and tossing his head in front of the Royal Family of the capital. Because Xian Sheng’s identity was exposed, countless people of the Liang Country were killed and injured.

Xian Sheng was startled awake from the nightmare and he was sweating hard.

He breathed anxious and then Ruyi quickly came in, saying, “Princess.”

There were too many furnaces in the room and this made him feel irritated and warm. He pointed at the teapot on the table. Ruyi helped him drink water and wiped the sweat off his head. Xian Sheng then weakly said, “What’s the time?”

“It’s sometime between one and three in the morning.”

She caressed Xian Sheng’s back, looking worried. The latter gradually calmed down and as if to confirm something, he dragged his heavy body off the bed and lightly walked to the window. He carefully pushed a corner of the window.

A face immediately peeked over from the crack and enthusiastically said, “Princess…”

Bang.

Xian Sheng directly closed the window.

He noticed that the people outside the window changed.

It was really cold today and it was one thing for Zhan Lue to order guards to look over each window, but he even had them take shifts.

He’s sick.

Xian Sheng was forced back on the bed. He realized that no one seemed to be able to change this man’s decision.

He also thought of his dream and gave up delaying the wedding by trying to be sick in the end. After all, compared to being carried into the bedroom by Zhan Lue like a doll, it was better if he walked in.

At least, he had the strength to struggle then.

The three days passed much quicker than expected. It seemed to be in the blink of an eye and the post station suddenly got busy. The Chinese characters symbolizing happiness were pasted everywhere. Xian Sheng was woken up when it was barely morning. The mamas of the palace were elegant and uptight. They carried the wedding clothes over, smiling kindly. They said happily, “Princess, you’re finally awake. Quick. Change into the wedding dress and quickly dress up. The sedan chair is about to be here.”

Xian Sheng glanced at the eye-piercing red and his fingertips were trembling. However, his mind already flew to the procedures at night.

There was probably going to be a conversation amongst the people tomorrow.

Blood splashed during the wedding night and the Crown Prince’s delicate wife died.

The Crown Prince’s marriage concerned the whole country’s face. As a result, the wedding was very glamorous and extravagant. Many people came to the post station. But after all, the Royal Family was in charge of the wedding, so although there were many people, everything was in order.

A large quantity of palace guards surrounded the post station, making it impenetrable. The common people could only admire from afar and discuss silently.

“Didn’t they say that the wedding wouldn’t be held until the spring of next year? Why was it shifted that much in advance?”

“It seems like you don’t know. Originally, they planned to hold the wedding in the spring of next year because they were worried that the princess might fall sick again. It seems like this sickly person was taken good care of on the way here.”

“In short, the Crown Prince is still too impulsive. He exchanged ten cities for this beautiful woman, but he hadn’t even taken a look at her for half a year already…Look, he even personally went to pick her up outside of the city two days ago.”

A woman laughed and said, “The ruler can change easily but beautiful women are hard to come by. The Crown Prince was willing to lose land for the princess, so it’s not strange for him to request shifting the wedding date ahead.”

“I wonder what sort of curse the Crown Prince is under. He clearly almost conquered the capital, but he decided to give up for a sickly princess. The Emperor even agreed.”

“Now that the Liang Country adheres to the Jin Country, the Jin Country basically rules the world. In short, the ten cities are just to give the old father-in-law his face.”

“My uncle’s grandson’s cousin is the Crown Prince’s close aide’s friend. He heard that the capital’s backup isn’t here yet which is why they didn’t keep on defending the city. His Highness suddenly mentioned marriage not only because he was in love with the well-known princess but also because of this.”

“You’re talking about Qi Yi from Zhelong City. He got into a disagreement with the Crown Prince of the Liang Country, falling out with the country. How could he possibly go and aid the Liang Country?”

“Well, I don’t know about this.”

…

On weekdays, Xian Sheng is the one who hates noise most. Although the royal wedding is much better than ordinary people, it’s a wedding in the end. With so many people, you can still make a big head.

He is usually in poor spirits. He was dug out of the quilt again early this morning, not to mention having a good spirit. When he opened his face, he almost shed tears. After a while, he became sick again. When he was pressed in front of the bronze mirror, he always wanted to sleep.

The people coming to dress Xian Sheng up were all professionals and they knew how to sweet talk. They were always talking about blessings and harmony. The rest of the people stood by the side and waited for the princess to be done with his preparations.

The woman never stopped talking, causing Xian Sheng to knit her eyebrows in irritation. She gradually fell into a daze and started dozing off.

Mama Qiu from the North Jin Palace stood by Xian Sheng. Since she came in, she had been observing him. Although she wore a kind smile on her face, she was secretly assessing Xian Sheng in her heart.

Mama Qiu belonged to the Empress. News of the Crown Prince marrying the Liang Country’s princess in exchange for ten cities had spread like wildfire in the North Jin Country. Even the palace was no exception. The Empress specially had her come over to see just how beautiful and charming the Liang Country’s princess was for the Crown Prince to exchange land for him.

To speak the truth, in terms of appearance, Xian Sheng was incredibly beautiful. He had smooth white skin. But maybe it was because he was sick for a while, but he looked tired and weak. He didn’t wear a smile on his face and he kept his head down, staying quiet and a bit depressed.

She was unhappy in her heart when she saw that Xian Sheng had fallen asleep whilst getting dressed up. Her gaze darkened and she suddenly took a step forward, pinching him.

Xian Sheng was startled and he subconsciously covered the place he was pinched. Before he could turn around, someone pressed his head down. “Princess, don’t move. It’s almost done.”

Besides Ruyi, there was an aunt named Yue Hua by Xian Sheng’s side. She was Ying Lu’s twin sister and she had been by Empress Wei’s side since she was young. She followed along this time because Wei Xuan didn’t want to leave Xian Sheng alone and Ruyi was too young.

The two took in this scene in their eyes. Ruyi wanted to scold Mama Qiu but Yue Hua stopped her. She walked over and, using the opportunity to talk to Xian Sheng, she stood in front of Mama Qiu, preventing her from bullying Xian Sheng again.

Xian Sheng knew what was going on, but because he was in another country, he couldn’t really offend the Empress. As a result, he swallowed his grievances.

Xian Sheng was finally done. Mama Qiu ordered someone to bring the phoenix crown over but Yue Hua stopped her. “The phoenix crown is too heavy. The princess has a weak body and it’s not too late to wear it after the sedan chair comes.”

“When the sedan chair comes, all the doors have to be open. Where is she going to get the time to wear it?”

“It’s just wearing a phoenix crown and putting the cover over her head. It won’t take long. Mama must be tired after working so hard. Drink some tea.”

Yue Hua delivered the tea but Mama Qiu didn’t back down. However, since the crown was indeed very heavy, Yue Hua didn’t concede either. The two of them argued back and forth, making Xian Sheng’s head hurt. He ended up closing his eyes to rest.

Mama Qiu knitted her eyebrows tightly again.

Sound of the firecrackers and drums rang outside. Mama Qiu said sternly, “The sedan chair is here! Hurry and wear it. You guys, go and open all the doors and let the good fortune come in.”

These people mumbled auspicious words as Yue Hua slowly grabbed the phoenix crown and walked over to help Xian Sheng wear it. Xian Sheng originally thought that she was exaggerating but after he wore it, he realized that he couldn’t even raise his neck.

Right after, he saw dark red in front of him and he lost his sense of direction completely.

Yue Hua was worried that he might trip, so she personally helped him out of the door. Detecting that Xian Sheng was feeling weak, she said, “After you get in, you can take the crown down and put it back on after the sedan chair arrives as the Crown Prince’s residence.”

She said this in a low voice, making sure Mama Qiu didn’t hear it. Xian Sheng didn’t respond but he swayed back and forth slowly, and his breath became rushed.

After entering the sedan chair, Xian Sheng held onto the crown to minimize the pressure on his head.

Sixteen people carried the sedan chair, but it wasn’t as steady compared to the horse carriage. When it was suddenly raised, Xian Sheng fell to the side unexpectedly. He finally reluctantly sat back up after a while and lifted the phoenix crown on his head again. When his hand was sore, he allowed his head to endure it alone before alternating. After a while, a thin layer of sweat appeared on his forehead.

Although the Liang Country was weak, after all, it had lasted for four centuries. The dowry delivered by carriages was set on the journey to the North Jin Country three days ago. The chests of chests of dowry manifested the Liang Country’s demeanor. Right now, the carriages followed behind the sedan chair and there was no end to the carriages carrying it. Everyone gasped at the sight.

“People all say that the southern country has ample properties. They are telling the truth.”

“Otherwise, why would people want a slice of the southern country?”

“Looking at the dowry, I feel bad for the princess marrying over now.”

“The Crown Prince is going to behead you if he hears this!”

Although there was a bustling and talkative discussion outside, Xian Sheng started feeling nauseous and the urge to vomit whilst the sedan chair was swaying back and forth, making it uncomfortable for him. He was trying his best to hold in his urge, but since he was dragged out of the bed early in the morning and put under hours of torment, he temporarily lost his consciousness because he was tired and exhausted.

It was North Jin Country’s Crown Prince’s wedding. The Emperor and Empress were both present. Those who came to the wedding were all nobles and officials of the capital. They were either prime ministers or generals. Each of them congratulated the Crown Prince and he smiled, nodding along. One could tell how happy he was, yet he subconsciously looked towards the street ahead of them frequently.

The wedding team that he longed for was finally here. He stopped and placed his gaze on the sedan chair. Everyone could tell that the Crown Prince was eager to have the beauty in his arms. The fireworks banged and lit up as the sedan chair approached them. Someone said sing-song, “Bride, you may get off the sedan chair. Good fortune is brought—”

The sedan chair was placed down and the lady who was supposed to support the bride out of the sedan chair respectfully waited for the bride to come out. However, there was no movement.

Zhan Lue walked over. Yue Hua reacted first and hurriedly rushed over, asking, “Princess?”

She called a few times but there was still no movement inside. Many guests started to become silent.

Zhan Lue’s smile froze a bit. He walked over in large strides and listened. He heard slight movements inside and nervous breathing.

Xian Sheng was just startled awake and noticed that the sedan chair stopped rocking. It was quiet outside and he was anxious.

Zhan Lue realized something and his expression relaxed. “Princess wants me to personally help you out?”

Hearing the voice, Xian Sheng finally confirmed that they were here. He moved forward and pulled the curtains to the side, seeing a hand extending over.

Zhan Zhen’s hand.

Xiansheng’s mood became complicated.

As soon as he appeared, the surrounding area immediately regained its liveliness: “Ha Ha, it’s the bride who has a small temper!”

The gun salute rang again. Someone spilled something on Xiansheng’s head. Zhan Zhen said, “Princess?”

Xian Sheng didn’t dare to wait any longer, handing his hand over. Yet, his legs suddenly weekend and everything turned black for a second. Zhan Lue wrapped his arm around Xian Sheng’s waist and everyone started becoming rowdy again. Xian Sheng clutched onto him, reluctantly standing up still. He said with difficulty, “I don’t feel that good.”

Zhan Lue held onto Xian Sheng’s sweaty hands and said, “I’ll hold onto you.”

He couldn’t see Zhan Lue’s expression clearly, so he could only trust him. At the same time, he pinched himself and reluctantly became spirited. He said, “Thank you.”

The Crown Prince’s marriage was different from the people. However, the Northern Country was open-minded and it was still very lively. However, whilst being lively, it was also elegant and dignified.

Someone started saying auspicious words and people followed along. Xian Sheng walked over the saddle and the fire pan, passing by the enthusiastic guests by his two sides and walked towards the anteroom.

Then, the couple completed the wedding ceremony in front of everyone.

Xian Sheng lifted his head and then looked down. He had been suppressing his coughs, not daring to cough too loud. However, he suddenly felt a layer of cold sweat on his body. Everything became dizzy in front of him. The scene and voices in front of him suddenly became further and further.

Xian Sheng grabbed onto the red ribbon tightly and it was wet from his sweat as well.

“Bring her into the bridal room—”

Xian Sheng suddenly felt the world spinning in front of him and he landed in Zhan Lue’s arms. Right after, Zhan Lue carried him princess style as he clutched the red ribbon. Wearing the heavy phoenix crown, Xian Sheng leaned his head against Zhan Lue’s shoulder. No matter how unwilling he was, he still lost his consciousness completely.

Zhan Lue carried Xian Sheng, leaving the guest-filled front hall. He passed through the corridors. Ruyi and Yue Hua’s faces paled as they followed along. The latter said lightly and quickly, “Thankfully, the wedding ceremony is complete. Your Highness, may the princess go in and take off her phoenix crown? She hasn’t eaten anything since this morning and she woke up early too. She must’ve fainted in the sedan chair before and she definitely didn’t purposely make things difficult for Your Highness.”

Zhan Lue’s expression was faint and he said nothing.

Yue Hua didn’t understand his thoughts and became more and more nervous.

Now that they were in the Jin Country, they needed to listen to the Crown Prince. If they offended him, the princess wouldn’t live a good life.

They walked to the door and someone opened the door for Zhan Lue. However, he said icily, “Don’t come in.”

The maids carrying the wine and jade ruyi as well as the matron of honor glanced at each other. Yue Hua and Ruyi both sweated but they didn’t dare say another word.

Ruyi asked in a low voice, “Is he going to…”

“No.” Yue Hua said calmly, “The Emperor of the Jin Country is still outside. No matter how preposterous the Crown Prince is, he won’t touch the princess right now.”

Inside the room, Zhan Lue placed Xian Sheng on the bed and reached over to take off the red cover.

The face powder concealed Xian Sheng’s pale and sick face. The red clothes contrasted his snow-white skin. This was a beautiful face that no man could resist.

The man took off the phoenix crown and felt surprised by how heavy it was. At the same time, he saw the red mark on Xian Sheng’s forehead as a result of wearing it.

Xian Sheng’s hair was wet because he was drenched in cold sweat. Zhan Lue placed the phoenix crown on the bed and reached over to feel Xian Sheng’s breath. Then, he took his pulse and his face darkened.

He lifted Xian Sheng’s neck and the head fell back, revealing his slender and beautiful neck. Zhan Lue pinched Xian Sheng’s philtrum and he knitted his eyebrows, slowly waking up. The nauseous feeling in his stomach still didn’t disappear. He felt strengthless and bitter.

Xian Sheng suddenly heard a voice in his ears, “If you die, I will have the Liang Country die with you.”

Hearing this, Xian Sheng suddenly opened his eyes and glanced at Zhan Lue. The man gently placed Xian Sheng’s head back on the pillow and he placed a hand against the side of the pillow. He looked down at the extremely beautiful face. Slowly, he observed him as if tasting some delicious food using his eyes. He said in deep affection. “You’re awake? Call me hubby.”
