Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 3
3. Chapter 3, Prisoners of the Dead
It takes a total of four and a half hours to get from the temporary camp to the Abandoned Cave Society.
The elite Marines were all deployed in teams of five as pioneers and scouts. Gu Hang, with the victim Patel, and his large troop of mechanical servants, advanced steadily.
Halfway through, Gu Hang received a report from the Marine reconnaissance team that they had discovered a small transport team that should belong to the “Dead Prisoners” tribe.
Gu Hang authorized Yan Fangxu to lead the Marines and some mechanical servants to annihilate them and try to capture them alive.
Captain Yan is an elite member of the navy, and he could do this little thing easily without any surprises.
However, after Gu Hang heard the confession of the survivors, his mood was no longer good.
Gu Hang had Patel brought over and said to him, “It seems that these bandits never intended to let you go.”
Patel also saw the situation of the transport team and looked angry: “Yes, they transported a large amount of high explosives. Not to mention blowing up the gate of the Abandoned Cave Society, it would be enough to collapse the mine and bury us all inside.”
Gu Hang shook his head and added, “More than that, according to the information obtained by Captain Yan’s interrogation, they have already negotiated with the greenskins in the ruins of the high wall. The more than 900 people in your Abandoned Cave Society are all regarded as high-quality rations and are ready to be sold to those green-skinned beasts.” “
What?!”
Patel knew that the “Prisoners of the Dead” group of wasteland bandits were absolutely full of malice towards them, but he was still shocked by their viciousness.
The description of “green-skinned beasts” is appropriate for those mutants. They not only exist on the Wrathful Owl Star, but are widely present in all parts of the universe. They are also called “cancer of the universe.”
They have no male or female distinction, and their reproduction relies on the symbiotic spores in their bodies falling off and then “growing” from the ground. The same is true for their food.
In theory, they don’t need to buy any rations, but the two things these green-skinned beasts like most in their lives are fighting and eating the brains of intelligent creatures. The former is their nature, and the latter is their means of technological upgrading.
These beasts that grew out of the land were indeed primitive and barbaric at first, fighting with stone axes and wooden sticks. And when they eat enough and smart enough brains, technology will develop rapidly, with iron weapons, guns and cannons, and even interstellar travel…
Their warlike and destructive nature makes them become more and more a natural disaster that wreaks havoc on everything the stronger they are.
In theory, such a race should be the enemy of all mankind. The Empire does have a killing order against the green-skinned orcs, killing them all on sight, and then purifying the land to kill the spores to ensure that they will not grow again.
But… policies are policies, and execution is another matter.
On the Angry Owl Star, taxes cannot be paid, food and clothing cannot be guaranteed, conflicts are rampant among various forces, the entire planet is a mess, and the Governor is forced to farm on his own… Under such circumstances, it is really impossible to expect bandits like the “Prisoner of the Dead” to have any feelings for the fate of all mankind.
However, not only are they not hostile, but they also do business with these man-eating beasts, which is intolerable.
Cleaning up the green-skinned beasts, this is what Gu Hang must do.
Of course, not now.
According to the confession, the so-called green-skinned tribes in the ruins of the high wall number in the tens of thousands, and at least have evolved to the point of having automatic weapons, and there is not much difference in equipment with the humans on the planet. If you want to clean up those animals, it is definitely not something that Gu Hang can do with the power he has now.
Fortunately, the “high wall ruins” are quite far away from here, so there is no need to worry too much for the time being.
The most important thing to deal with is the group of wasteland looters who threaten the Waste Cave Society.
Now, Gu Hang has known their exact intelligence.
Four kilometers away from the mine where Feidong Society was located, the “prisoners of the dead” built a temporary camp. These guys never thought that Feidong Society would dare to come out and fight them in the field, so they did not prepare any defensive fortifications.
“Good opportunity, we can launch a surprise attack! Our mortars can have a good impact!” Yan Fangxu seemed excited.
“Okay, let’s do it.”
After a short rest, they arrived in just over an hour after the original two-hour journey.
The speed was accelerated because they were worried that the transport team would not arrive for a long time, which would make the bandits aware of the abnormal situation.
After a rapid march, they still needed some rest time before launching the attack.
The thirty elite soldiers of the Marine Corps were fine, but the mecha servants needed to rest. They would not complain of being tired, but they would be tired, and fatigue would reduce their combat capabilities.
According to Yan Fangxu’s suggestion, the soldiers would set out again in forty-five minutes, and the mortar position would launch an artillery attack an hour later.
At the location where the “prisoners of the dead” camp could be seen from afar, Gu Hang patiently led the team to rest, eat nutritional paste and sit quietly to replenish physical strength, and build mortar positions…
He knew that the patience now was to wait for a battle to complete the victory.
…
Kaga was inexplicably irritated at the moment.
These days, being a looter is not easy. They haven’t opened for business for a while, and all kinds of material reserves will be exhausted. Food is not a big deal, they won’t have to worry about it after breaking through the abandoned cave community. Even if these miners don’t have much food reserves, there are hundreds of people, and they can be slaughtered and made into jerky for a long time.
Damaged weapons and consumed ammunition are not easy to replenish. And the major forces are not very willing to do business with these looters, only the greenskin tribes are willing. Although the greenskin technology is not very easy to use, the weapon failure rate is extremely high, and the ammunition is also easy to misfire, and it is far less powerful in their hands than in the hands of the greenskins themselves…
But it’s better than nothing.
To be honest, Kaga doesn’t like the most abundant ore in the abandoned cave community. This thing is heavy and worthless, so it is not easy to sell it. But the nine hundred people in the cave are good things. They can be used as food for themselves, and they can also be driven to the ruins of the high wall to sell them for greenskin weapons. Isn’t it wonderful?
Driving people is much easier than driving sheep.
For this reason, the “prisoners of the dead” almost went out in full force. Except for a few old, young, women, and brothers who stayed in the old nest, the main force was brought out by Kaga, a total of more than a hundred people.
The Waste Cave Society has many people but few guns, so they are not to be feared. The reason they have been able to survive in the wasteland for so long is mainly because of the good terrain. Kaga personally went to investigate the mine, and it is really easy to defend but difficult to attack. The entrance of the cave is sealed tightly with ore and metal, and then closed from the inside with a heavy door. It is really impossible to open it with manpower.
They tried to blow up the door yesterday, but failed because the equivalent was not enough. In desperation, he could only send his confidants back to the old nest to transport the explosives, which even contained concentrated explosives at the bottom of the box.
His patience has been exhausted. He can’t trick the miners into opening the door, so he will just wait for the explosives to arrive and blow it up.
It was something that should have been done today, so there was no need to rush, but Kaga still felt depressed. According to the time, his transport team should be back, but why is there no movement at all?
He had already urged his men to use radio communication to try to contact the transport team, but he couldn’t get in touch.
This made him even more uneasy.
Half an hour ago, he sent out a team to search along the loop, but until now, there has been no response, and even the radio has lost contact.
He became completely alert.
Such a strange situation could not help but make him feel fear and hesitation.
Those who were not careful enough would have been buried in the wasteland without a trace.
He made up his mind to send out four or five teams to explore; at the same time, he also ordered the entire team to prepare and set out together to explore the situation.
Suddenly, a subordinate came to report: “We have contacted the transport team. They said they are on their way back and will be here soon.”
Kaga’s brows frowned: “Why couldn’t we contact them before?”
“He said their radio had a problem and it has just been repaired. He was afraid that we would worry, so he sent a message right away.”
Kaga thought for a moment and ordered: “Reply: Damn it, did you get fucked by a zombie dog on the road? Why are you so slow? Come back quickly! If you are late, half of the spoils will be deducted from you!”
After that, he walked quickly outside and shouted to the brothers who were preparing: “Hurry up, hurry up, we’ll set off now! Damn it, don’t stuff your damn bullets with it. Take as much as you can and throw away the rest! Go quickly! Be prepared to break out! We are being targeted!” The
subordinate who had just heard his order was a little confused. He chased after him and asked, “Boss, this… I…”
“What do you mean? Go and tell them, and then grab your gun and follow the team!”
“Why?” The boy was still stunned.
Kaga knocked him on the head and said, “Someone must be targeting us! Deceive the other side. If it works, the best. If it doesn’t, you’ll die for being slow!”
After that, he ignored the stupid boy, took his gun, called his brothers and prepared to leave the camp.
As soon as he reached the door, he heard a whistling sound coming from the sky.
His face turned green instantly.
This was the sound of artillery shells!
“Lie down!”
He quickly lay down and cursed, “Fuck! You’re still using artillery shells to blow them up… Bah… Don’t let me catch you… Bah…”
The rumbling explosion made him almost unable to hear his own voice. He just tried to vent his fear with dirty words and tough talk.
He guessed that someone was targeting them, and even felt that the worst situation might happen – he was surrounded.
But what he didn’t expect was that the people who were targeting him actually had cannons in their hands!
Fortunately, he was lucky. Apart from the buzzing in his ears and a little dizzy head, nothing serious happened.
He stood up from a half-squat and looked around.
The cannons that bombarded them should not be of a large caliber, and it seemed to be just mortars or something like that. If it was really a heavy artillery, I’m afraid that everyone in the entire camp would be dead after this round of dense coverage of ten or so rounds.
But despite this, in their simple camp without strong fortifications, these mortars still caused considerable casualties.
At a glance, at least more than twenty brothers were either dead or missing limbs.
The rest of the people were also stunned.
But now is obviously not the time to be dazed, and staying here is just waiting to die.
He shouted: “Charge! Charge! Get out!”
But at this moment, gunshots were heard outside.
They were really surrounded! After the artillery fire, the infantry followed up!
The only good news was that the gunshots were still far away, so it seemed that the small teams he had sent out earlier had played a role and had engaged in a firefight.
This was the only chance of survival.
He shouted, “Support! It’s a critical moment. If you don’t want to die, I’ll beat you hard!”
At this time, the second round of artillery fire arrived.
