Starting from the Planetary Governor - Chapter 40
Chapter 40: The Storm is Coming
When the young man said goodbye to his elders, also in the city of Renaissance, Cui Kao, the original high priest of the original Angry Owl sect, was doing his daily homework.
This is a bright hall, and a statue of a god that looks like a bear and an eagle stands here in a dignified manner. The statue of the Angry Owl, carved from white jade-like stone, looks furious. Anyone standing in front of it feels like a storm is coming, and those with weak minds will have their minds destroyed by the strong wind.
The original high priest Cui Kao, however, stood safely in front of the statue of the original Angry Owl.
He was being baptized by the storm and listening to the anger of the gods at the same time.
At this moment, a priest wearing a gray hood quietly appeared behind the high priest.
He didn’t feel the wind from a distance, but he knew what the consequences would be if he stood in front of the statue of the storm.
And the high priest had been standing here for a long time.
The priest’s eyes were full of fear and piety. He reported in a low voice: “High Priest, our actions in Renaissance City have encountered some obstacles. The governor who was not in the city has put too much pressure on the Alliance Government. They are now much more stringent in their investigation of us. Many materials can no longer be operated through official channels in a big way, and the missionary work among the refugees in the outer city has been forced to go underground.”
The high priest turned around, his eyes deep, as if he could see through the priest’s heart. Although his lips did not move, his voice sounded like a breeze in the priest’s ears: “The power of the storm is endless. We will overcome all difficulties and accomplish our sacred mission. Some obstacles will eventually be destroyed by the storm, even if it is the governor who is blocking us.”
The priest was convinced: “You are right. The howling wind envoy sent a message earlier. The enemy has taken the bait. I believe there will be good news soon. As long as the governor dies, the whole Renaissance City will be in chaos! They cannot afford the price of the governor’s abnormal death. They will be afraid of the starships in the sky. At that time, no one will have the energy to care about what we are doing.”
The high priest sighed, “Time flies, and humans are still sinking in ignorance. Only the storm can lead them out of the darkness. Our mission is to spread the glory of God to every corner of the world.”
The priest responded respectfully, “As you said, high priest. We will do our best to live up to the expectations of the storm.”
The high priest prayed silently again, and sighed, “May the storm guide our way and let us become a beacon to guide people forward in this darkness. Go, my child, the blessing of the Lord is with you.”
The priest saluted respectfully, then left quietly, leaving the high priest standing alone in front of the statue of the angry owl.
…
Yan Fangxu had already deeply felt that something was wrong.
He led the 3rd Infantry Battalion, which had just been formed and had just received its equipment, to carry out a cleanup operation of the alien woodland.
Four hours ago, his team was purifying a monster nest.
They killed dozens of monsters near the nest, and what they had to do next was no different from before. Although the scale of this hatchery was larger than any they had encountered before, it was not so large as to exceed their imagination.
After destroying the nest, they were ready to leave and go to the next location.
Then, dense gunfire was heard in the surrounding woods.
Yan Fangxu’s command style has always been steady. Even though he had destroyed many hatcheries before, he still did not relax his vigilance when encountering this one. All the peripheral guards that should be deployed were not missed, and when destroying the hatchery, temporary defense positions were also established. In short, it seemed that they were fighting a stupid battle and leaving no loopholes.
He knew that old man Perbov had been muttering behind his back about his slow efficiency, and wanted to let the 2nd Battalion do this job, and let the newly formed 3rd Battalion guard the house. But obviously, the Governor trusted him, a serious imperial captain, more than the quick-made Perbov.
And he did not disappoint the Governor’s trust. Since the start of the operation, the team he led has suffered very few casualties.
Especially today, his caution paid off.
The soldiers on the outer alert found a very large group of monsters approaching. They opened fire first, delaying the advance of those monsters, and also bought time for Yan Fangxu.
The soldiers on the outer alert fought and retreated. When they came back, Yan Fangxu had already commanded the troops to build a triangular defensive position. The three infantry companies each had a position, and some extended outwards to form a horn for each other, and ensured that the firepower could cover and support each other.
All this was accomplished in the ten minutes or so that the soldiers on guard outside had fought for. On the one hand, Yan Fangxu had good command and was well prepared in advance. The troops strictly abided by discipline and did not relax. On the other hand, the military skills of the entire 3rd Battalion were completely solid.
Although they had not fought a hard battle, the soldiers were visibly nervous. But the morale remained good, and the completion of the instructions was meticulous, which was completely up to the normal level of the Imperial Star Army.
Every time Yan Fangxu saw this scene, he would sigh.
There were not too many such troops on the Quintet starship. Most of the slave laborers, servants, or mecha soldiers could not reach this level. Only a few marine corps had this ability; and the marine commandos he brought down were indeed more elite, but there were only about a thousand soldiers of this level on the entire starship.
The soldiers smoothly built a defensive position, which eased Yan Fangxu’s nervous mentality due to the sudden attack.
When the enemies appeared in front of them, the soldiers began to fire fiercely.
Under the crossfire, the monsters fell in groups.
They quickly repelled the attack of the monster group.
Those disgusting abscess monsters of various shapes were dead on the ground. The dark green pus flowing from their bodies was extremely smelly.
Disgusting as it was, it was indeed not a threat. The enemy who could only rely on biting, close-range pus splashing corrosion, and would die if shot, had no chance under the fire net.
But before they could relax for a while, the enemy’s second wave of attack came.
It was still a large number of abscess monsters, with human, animal, and other things with lumps all over their bodies, rushing out of the woods and howling towards the position. In this second wave of attack, some things with long-range attack methods appeared.
Abscess ejectors.
This monster looks similar to ordinary abscess monsters, but with an additional ejection port on the chest or on the top of the head. When they rush to a distance of about 50 meters, they will stop in place, accumulate for a moment, and then eject large pieces of yellow-green pus from the ejection port.
These monsters, which can spray highly corrosive pus, pose a great threat to the position.
