Chapter 7685: Night Has Fallen

Meanwhile, in another part of the clan’s territory, there was a courtyard.

Inside were about a dozen people, and in the center of a small pavilion, an old woman and an old man sat facing each other.

These were Ancestor Kun and Ancestor Lan!

To many people’s surprise, these two had met again!

This was actually quite unnecessary for the sect; generally, for major decisions, all three ancestors should be present.

Therefore, this was essentially a secret meeting, deliberately avoiding Ancestor Rong’s people.

The other dozen or so people present knew the current situation was sensitive and this action was inappropriate, so they were all slightly tense.

“What do you think about that matter?” Ancestor Lan looked at the mountain-like old man before him and asked calmly.

“My grandson’s life is uncertain; I certainly won’t sit idly by,” Ancestor Kun said indifferently.

“You mean, you still want to act on your own?” Ancestor Lan looked into the other’s eyes and asked again.

“Xuan Zheng’s matter was an accident, I was unaware of it. Besides…” Kun Gu Zu paused, then continued, “I heard that Qian Huan Ding Tian’s sister went to investigate the area around the sect. Although she didn’t find anything, at least the area around the sect is still safe. Sending a few more people to search wouldn’t hurt; waiting around isn’t going to solve anything.”

“You still want to take action? Aren’t you afraid of being held accountable?” Lan Gu Zu said meaningfully.

“What’s there to be afraid of? That area has already been investigated; there’s basically nothing to worry about. If we’re scared into not even daring to leave the gate by a Li Tianming, other sects will probably laugh at us.” Kun Gu Zu snorted coldly.

“Since you’ve put it this way, then I’ll send two people.” Lan Gu Zu said calmly.

Kun Gu Zu raised an eyebrow slightly upon hearing this, somewhat surprised, “You’re going to get involved in this mess too?”

“You know this is messy water?” Lan Gu Zu was somewhat amused and annoyed.

“In that case, I’ll send three people; we’ll definitely find this little thief.” Kun Gu Zu said coldly.

Then, both of their gazes turned to the dozen or so people standing to the side.

“Jingyun, and Yutong, you two go outside the sect and investigate again. Even Qianhuan Dingtian has sent people out to investigate; if they can investigate, why can’t we?” Lan Guzu said with a sneer.

“Yes, sir.” Two female voices rang out.

Two people stepped forward from the group of about ten.

One was a woman with almond-shaped eyes, red lips, and skin as white as jade—Qianhuan Jingyun.

The other was a woman dressed in white, with a touch of heroism in her brows.

They both stepped forward to receive the order.

At the same time, Kun Guzu’s expression was stern, his gaze sweeping over the others.

Some met his eyes and lowered their gaze, not daring to look him in the eye.

Kun Guzu snorted coldly.

The others still didn’t want to meet his gaze, some even burying their heads even lower.

Clearly, not everyone wanted to be the first to stand out at this juncture.

Kun Guzu remained silent, his gaze slowly moving, finally settling on a certain spot.

At the end of the group were three people who looked somewhat alike; they appeared to be three brothers.

Standing at the head was a tall, middle-aged man in a yellow robe, followed by a round-figured middle-aged man in a purple robe with a small mustache. The last person was even smaller than the woman, dressed in black, with messy hair that obscured most of his face.

“Jingming, Jinghe, Jingxi, the three of you stay with them. Remember to search carefully and try your best to find Xuanzheng’s whereabouts,” Kun Gu Zu said calmly.

Among them, Qianhuan Jingming, as the elder brother, clasped his hands respectfully and said, “Yes, Kun Gu Zu.”

Kun Gu Zu then pondered for a moment and took out a nine-colored bow.

“Take this with you too. In case you really encounter Xuanzheng, you can give it to him. His Illusion God is special, and when paired with this Yi’an Bow, it can show its greatest effect.” As Kun Gu Zu spoke, he also threw the Yi’an Bow.

Qianhuan Jingming caught the Yi’an Bow in a few flustered steps.

It has to be said that Kun Gu Zu was indeed casual in his actions, even throwing such a high-level Dao treasure.

After giving their orders, the remaining Supreme Elders mostly withdrew.

Only the two Ancient Ancestors remained in the courtyard.

Ancient Ancestor Lan looked in the direction the five had left, his gaze deep, and said, “Do you think it’s risky for them to go out like this? What if the other side attacks again?”

“These are five Supreme Elders. If they disappear without a trace again, the other side’s methods are truly extraordinary. At that point, it won’t be a matter of whether we worry or not; it could be a great calamity for the sect…” Ancient Ancestor Kun stared straight ahead and slowly said.

…

Outside the Wusheng Qianhuan Sect.

The five Supreme Elders who had set off again began searching for traces left by Li Tianming or Qianhuan Xuanzheng.

Among them, Qianhuan Jingming, dressed in a yellow robe, examined the Yi’an Bow from side to side.

Sensing the terrifying power contained within this treasure, he couldn’t help but wonder, “With the power of this bow and Elder Xuanzheng’s strength, how come they couldn’t leave any clues? How did they manage that?”

Qian Huan Jingyun, dressed in a white dress, glanced at it and said calmly, “It’s not just you who’s curious. I believe everyone else who knows about this is also puzzled. Daydreaming won’t help now; we’re here to find the truth.”

“If you ask me, we should have focused all our efforts on dealing with Li Tianming from the beginning, just openly. It was because we underestimated him and weren’t decisive enough that things turned out this way. If we had directly sent people to raze the Wanxing Emperor Sect and the Heavenly Emperor Sect, how could he have caused all this trouble?” Qian Huan Jinghe, dressed in purple robes and with a round figure, stroked his beard and said.

“I suspect he’s hiding something, there must be something he can’t say. Perhaps he’s not as strong as Rong Gu Zu and the others think, just that his methods are special,” Qian Huan Yutong said calmly.

“Hiss… Do you think it’s possible that we don’t actually have such an opponent, and it’s just a fabricated illusion?” Qian Huanjinghe’s eyes suddenly flickered, and he said meaningfully.

“What do you mean?” Qian Huanjingyun looked at him.

“Think about it, whose people brought back this Yi’an Bow? In this process, who was absent from the sect meeting? And who kept hindering others from finding clues and actively seeking out Li Tianming?” Qian Huanjinghe clearly organized the known information.

Upon hearing this, everyone frowned.

“You mean, in order to weaken other factions and become the only one powerful, the sect leader conspired with Li Tianming to plan all this, and our sect leader is the biggest traitor?” Qian Huanjingyun was slightly shocked.

Most importantly, the events that Wusheng Qianhuan Sect has encountered so far, starting with the disappearance of several people from the Wanxing Emperor Sect, have all involved the Ronggu Ancestor lineage.

In this situation, the other two lineages suffered losses, while the Ronggu Ancestor lineage remained unscathed.

Yet, the Ronggu Ancestor consistently obstructed further investigations.

All of this makes sense!

However…

the idea that the sect leader was an internal traitor is still too far-fetched!

“That shouldn’t be… no matter how much internal strife there is, they are still our own people. Why would they collude with outsiders to weaken us?” Qianhuan Jingming hesitated.

Not only him, but even with this evidence pointing to this conclusion, the others weren’t entirely certain; only doubts had taken root.

However, just as they were all undecided and silently continued searching for clues,

the sky suddenly darkened.
